Ask business owners about their toughest challenges and at the top of the list is managing employees.
The attorneys of Carothers DiSante & Freudenberger LLP counsel employers on that sole challenge — maintaining productive and rewarding workplaces that keep companies competitive.
Our niche is California labor and employment law, in its entirety, and we’re one of the few boutique firms with a California-wide presence. We represent, advise and counsel national and regional employers with California employees and workforces, as well as California-based startups, midsize ventures, and privately and publicly held companies and Fortune 500 corporations.
Big Law, Big Case Background in a Boutique
CDF was founded in 1994 in Orange County by several labor and employment attorneys practicing at leading AmLaw 100 firms.
The goals of the founding partners were, and continue to be, helping clients derive value from CDF attorneys’ big law experience, creating an entrepreneurial context for legal counsel, and nurturing client-attorney relationships fueled by flexibility, efficiency, responsiveness and creativity.
Today, CDF’s nearly 40 labor, employment, and immigration attorneys practice collaboratively, from five offices across the state, on cases that have shaped labor and employment law in California.
Counsel to California Employers
CDF attorneys were among the first to handle California wage and hour class actions, and one of the few to take a class action to trial. We played a formative role in representing employers in the Northern California grocery workers’ strike, and built a deep trial-bench during decades of defending litigation challenges in courtrooms across the state. CDF leverages these and other achievements in the frequent educational seminars we offer to clients seeking to strategically pair defensive strength with risk prevention measures.
Being a California employer demands being prepared for the unexpected and often the unprecedented. CDF attorneys counsel employers as a tight-knit group of dedicated, decisive, diverse and dynamic professionals in tune with labor, employment, and immigration concerns across the state.
I worked with Mark Spring and his team in Sacramento, who did an outstanding job in resolving a particularly challenging sexual harassment claim. Mark and his team assessed the case very accurately early on. Thereafter, they worked very hard and creatively in obtaining favorable facts to develop the most resonating defense theme. Their strategic zealousness and unwavering commitment to focus on the strengths of our case rather than be distracted by the trivial, was the difference and ultimately led to a very favorable resolution.More»
