In his counsel to California employers, John M. Wicker has extensive experience defending a wide range of employment-related claims including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, breach of contract, unfair competition and wage and hour claims. Wicker also has experience both prosecuting and defending trade secrets matters, and has successfully represented clients in state and federal court, in administrative proceedings, as well as in arbitration hearings.
Wicker also has a strong background counseling employers on a wide variety of matters, such as fiduciary obligations with respect to the management of employee stock ownership plans, overtime exemptions under federal and state law, employee handbooks, wage and hour matters, the organization of retirement and medical benefits plans and employment contracts.
Prior to joining the firm, Wicker worked for a large national employment defense firm, served as an Assistant Deputy to the Honorable Don Knabe of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, and also worked as a videographer for the USC Football Team where he filmed practices and games for use by the University as well as the National Football League. Additionally, Wicker served as a law clerk in the Pomona Office of the Los Angeles County Public Defender where he assisted in the defense of several high profile criminal trials.
Wicker spends his free time playing poker, working out and attending San Diego Chargers and USC football games. He is also an avid fisherman.contact me
