From pre-suit investigation to successful case resolution, Julia A. Luster vigorously represents clients in all stages of litigation. Julia advises and defends California employers against class actions and single plaintiff claims in federal and state courts. Julia also represents clients before administrative agencies, including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), and the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE).
Julia has extensive litigation experience, including early case resolution, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement, and appeals. In the class action context, Julia has experience with class certification, motions for summary judgment, and Daubert motions. Recently, Julia briefed, argued, and won an appeal in the Ninth Circuit for a Rule 23 class action.
Julia also focuses her practice on providing advice to clients regarding employee rights and benefits, such as wage and hour, meal and rest periods, and a variety of other statutorily-mandated employee protections.
Prior to joining CDF, Julia practiced in ERISA litigation and employee benefits law at an AmLaw 100 law firm. She also practiced in consumer class actions at a boutique litigation firm with offices in the East Bay and New York City, where she gained experience with the Class Action Fairness Act (CAFA) and California’s Unfair Competition Laws.contact me
