About Karimah

Karimah J. Lamar advises and represents clients in matters involving California labor and employment law.  Lamar is experienced in representing clients in federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies in disputes and allegations concerning labor and employment laws and regulations.  This includes claims of wrongful termination, claims of discrimination and harassment, wage and hour disputes, class actions, and other labor and employment litigation.

In addition, Lamar handles matters before various administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the California Department of Labor Standards Enforcement.

Advising California employers on compliance with the state’s labor and employment laws is a significant area of Lamar’s practice.  She counsels clients on compliance strategies on wage and hour laws, the WARN Act, family and medical leave laws, and litigation-avoidance approaches.  In support of her advisory role, Lamar regularly drafts employee handbooks and other personnel policies, as well as conducts specialized training on topics such as, sexual harassment prevention, diversity, and conducting proper investigations.

Lamar also has a broad range of transactional experience, including drafting contractual agreements, merger documents, corporate resolutions, certificates, and opinion letters.
