CDF Observes 17th Anniversary with New Name, New Website
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. — As nearly any trial attorney can attest, not many get to a jury trial, but that isn't the case with San Diego attorney Dave Carothers, whose approximately 60 trials have won him many accolades including the latest from his firm Carlton DiSante & Freudenberger LLP. Today the firm announced that as part of its 17th anniversary observance, it is changing the firm name to Carothers DiSante and Freudenberger LLP (CDF).
"Dave has shown extraordinary teamwork and commitment to CDF and has actively demonstrated leadership over much of the history and life of the firm," says Managing Partner Marie DiSante. "He is one of California's most highly regarded trial attorneys and we saw this milestone as a perfect opportunity to incorporate this change," she adds.
Carothers is widely recognized in the legal industry and the corporate world as an experienced courtroom trial lawyer and litigator with a long succession of wins in the dozens of cases that he has taken to verdict. That legacy finds this member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in the rare position of being tapped by other firms, often competitors, to serve as their lead counsel in the courtroom. One recent example of Carothers courtroom ingenuity found him in trial on behalf of a long-standing client. Based on his skillful cross-examination of the plaintiff, the judge resolved the case as a nuisance settlement, without calling one defense witness to the stand.

Among his many other achievements and contributions, Carothers is a founding member of the San Diego County Bar Diversity Fellowship Program, which works to increase diversity of law school graduates within the ranks of the County's top law firms.
Joining Carothers in the CDF San Diego office is an astute legal team comprised of attorneys such as Partner Cindy Caplan, who tackles employment litigation on behalf of employers in cases that include claims of retaliation and wrongful discharge, sexual, racial and disability harassment, discrimination, and alleged Family Medical Leave Act violations.
Associate Nicole Baldwin has been lauded by a global client for her impressive work-up of a significant case, involving race discrimination claims, being litigated in New York District Court on which she is assisting Carothers.
Additionally, Associate Karimah Lamar has extensive experience litigating wrongful termination/discrimination cases and recently won a summary judgment motion for a global client who terminated an employee after she was on a medical leave of absence for over seven months. The former employee filed a lawsuit for disability discrimination, wrongful termination and breach of an implied employment contract among other things. Client's motion was granted in its entirety and dismissed with prejudice.
The firm also launched a new website at www.CDFLaborLaw.com in conjunction with the name change, seizing an opportunity to develop a site that would have a more interactive benefit for its client base. The new website will serve as a viable resource for clients with case studies, recent legislation, and other current data that can impact their business.
