	<img alt="" src="/site_images/content/WP_Lunch.jpg" style="width: 175px; float: left; height: 164px" />Carothers DiSante &amp; Freudenberger LLP ("CDF")&nbsp;was proud to recently support&nbsp;Orange County United Way&#39;s&nbsp;Women&rsquo;s Philanthropy Fund at the&nbsp;<a href="http://wpfbreakfast.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1049027">10th Annual Women&rsquo;s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast</a>&nbsp;in Irvine on May 1.&nbsp;More than 600 of the county&rsquo;s most influential women philanthropists, business leaders, and community volunteers gathered to break bread and raise money to help women and girls in Orange County build self-sufficient lives.&nbsp;The keynote address was given by&nbsp;Connie Duckworth, former Partner and Managing Director of Goldman Sachs and Chairman and CEO of ARZU, a non-profit she founded in 2001 after her retirement that empowers destitute women weavers in rural&nbsp;Afghanistan.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;As a member of the United Way Women&rsquo;s Leadership Council, I see first-hand how the proceeds from this event help local women and girls address the challenges that can be barriers to their self-sufficiency,&rdquo; said attorney Shirin Forootan.&nbsp;&ldquo;Such challenges come in different forms:&nbsp; education, income, and health.&nbsp;The United Way provides women and girls with basic needs, educational programs, and financial stability programs.&nbsp;Sometimes all a woman or girl needs is that &lsquo;extra helping hand&rsquo; to make all the difference in her life.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p>
