A former employee of an international electronic components company filed an appeal of a trial de novo to the Orange County Superior Court of his unsuccessful claim with the Labor Commissioner, alleging that his employer failed to reimburse him for business expenses incurred through the majority of his employment. With the guidance of San Francisco partner Alison Tsao, Orange County associate Shirin Forootan's conducted a withering cross-examination of the Plaintiff, establishing that Plaintiff failed to timely submit his reimbursement requests while he was employed and did not attach any verifying documentation until the day of his hearing before the Labor Commissioner. Ms. Forootan persuaded the trial court to grant the employer’s motion for judgment without the employer needing to put on its defense case, resulting in a complete victory for the employer.
