On May 22nd, the California Department of Public Health approved Riverside County’s application to move to accelerated phase 2 reopening. With this approval, Riverside has been able to reopen destination retail stores (shopping malls, swap meets, dine-in restaurants) and schools (with modifications and exceptions).
Riverside County has issued safe reopening guidelines and also instructs businesses to report to the city in which the business operates in order to determine what the COVID-19 response obligations are for each business. Riverside County requires all businesses anticipating a reopening to complete and implement a Safe Reopening Plan that addresses employee and customer health measures that include signage posted at facility entrances that indicate the safety measures required for entrance. The County also has industry-specific guidelines.
On June 2, 2020, Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved a 45 MM grant funding aid to small businesses enduring hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications are being accepted through June 19, 2020. The County’s Workforce Development Resources Guide contains jump-links to additional resources for employers and employees.
