CDF Webinar: Effective Handling of Employment Terminations in California
Terminating employment relationships is among the most unpleasant, stressful and legally risky actions an employer can take. No employment decision leads to more lawsuits than the separation decision. In California, the variety of claims available stemming from a termination decision and the unique nature of our state laws place added risk on the employer when the time comes to end the employment relationship.
Of course, legal risk can never be completely eliminated. However, the proper handling of such actions can dramatically reduce the risks and can help put employers in the best position to defend any challenge to the termination decision and its implementation.
In this one hour webinar, Brent Giddens will address the various factors that should be considered before making the termination decision, how to effectively communicate this decision to the affected employee(s), and how to proactively manage both the potential legal and other consequences arising from such a decision. The webinar will cover issues related to individual termination decisions as well as managing risks when conducting a reduction in force/mass layoff.
This webinar is designed for employment attorneys, human resource professionals, business owners, and managers and supervisors who participate in termination decisions and/or help provide guidance for those that do.
