Tim Freudenberger, Alison Tsao and Kent Sprinkle earn statewide recognition for class action practice
IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 19, 2015 – California Lawyer magazine, the state’s preeminent legal monthly, today announced three partners with Carothers DiSante & Freudenberger LLP (CDF), have been named 2015 Attorneys of the Year. Tim Freudenberger, Alison Tsao and Kent Sprinkle, all seasoned and well-respected trial attorneys, were recognized for their pioneering class action defense work, which has helped shape California labor and employment law.
“For more than two decades, CDF has been on the forefront of legal trends affecting California employers, and we are honored to receive this prestigious recognition,” said Freudenberger. “Class action certifications in California are continuously evolving, and CDF attorneys have the experience – and knowledge – that only a firm with an exclusive focus on labor and employment law can provide.”
Freudenberger, Tsao and Sprinkle were recognized for earning a favorable decision from the California Supreme Court in Duran v. U.S. Bank National Association. CDF’s defense work on the case, which lasted more than a decade, resulted in a first-of-its-kind class action trial and multiple appeals. This landmark ruling is expected to have longstanding implications on class certification and trial principles in overtime exemption cases.
The 2015 California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year awards recognize attorneys whose achievements significantly impacted their practice areas in 2014. Freudenberger, Tsao and Sprinkle were the only lawyers recognized in the class action category. In total, 62 attorneys were named to the esteemed list.
