Carothers DiSante & Freudenberger LLP (“CDF”) was proud to recently support Orange County United Way's Women’s Philanthropy Fund at the 10th Annual Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast in Irvine on May 1. More than 600 of the county’s most influential women philanthropists, business leaders, and community volunteers gathered to break bread and raise money to help women and girls in Orange County build self-sufficient lives. The keynote address was given by Connie Duckworth, former Partner and Managing Director of Goldman Sachs and Chairman and CEO of ARZU, a non-profit she founded in 2001 after her retirement that empowers destitute women weavers in rural Afghanistan.
“As a member of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council, I see first-hand how the proceeds from this event help local women and girls address the challenges that can be barriers to their self-sufficiency,” said attorney Shirin Forootan. “Such challenges come in different forms: education, income, and health. The United Way provides women and girls with basic needs, educational programs, and financial stability programs. Sometimes all a woman or girl needs is that ‘extra helping hand’ to make all the difference in her life.”
