The Challenges of Reimbursing Employees for Remote Work in California
Nov 19, 2020

Mark Spring authors the article "The Challenges of Reimbursing Employees for Remote Work in California," for Bloomberg Law.

EXCERPT:

"Many California businesses remain closed to the public as the Covid-19 pandemic extends into fall. Employees all over the Golden State are performing their job duties remotely from home. These employees are often incurring additional hard and soft costs as a result of having to work remotely. Hard costs may include the purchase of items such as extra electronics and office equipment.  Soft costs may include such things as increased heating and air-conditioning costs and the costs of upgraded internet/cell phone costs.

California has some very unique laws related to the reimbursement of work-related expenses for remote works. With the plethora of class action lawsuits and Private Attorney General Act (PAGA) actions in California, it is important that remote workers in the Golden State be properly reimbursed for their remote work expenses."
