Trial Attorney Dave Carothers of Carothers DiSante & Freudenberger LLP Receives Distinguished Employment Defense Recognition

SAN DIEGO, Calif., August 15, 2013 – Dave Carothers, managing partner at the San Diego office of Calif.-based Carothers DiSante & Freudenberger LLP (CDF), was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2014 in the field of Litigation - Labor and Employment and named to the San Diego Super Lawyers® 2013 list for the second year in a row. Carothers, who is well-known and respected statewide for his successful defense of employers in more than 50 jury trials, also was named a “Top Attorney” by San Diego Daily Transcript, a coveted list of the top 10 leaders in San Diego labor and employment law.

With nearly 30 years of experience, Carothers brings unrelenting passion and focus to the courtroom when defending labor and employment claims. He represents well-known employers with workforces throughout California as a lead trial counsel for representative actions, class actions and coordinated actions involving hundreds of claimants. Recently, Carothers successfully defended a class action against his client, a federal contractor, alleged to be in violation of California law on meal and rest breaks. Despite jury and subject matter challenges, Carothers navigated the difficult topic during cross-examinations and was ultimately victorious in the defense of his client.

“I am humbled and grateful to my peers for selecting me for such esteemed national and local recognition,” remarked Carothers. “I’ve dedicated my professional life to the law, enjoy mentoring the next generation who are as passionate as I am and it’s an honor and a privilege to achieve this acclaim for my clients and for myself.”

The San Diego Daily Transcript’s “Top Attorneys” list is the culmination of a lengthy process where more than 6,000 San Diego County lawyers are asked to nominate peers worthy of recognition. The lawyers selected to the list represent the “best of the best” lawyers in private, corporate, academic and government practice in San Diego County.

Repeated success and hard work have built the foundation for Carothers’ reputation of excellence and also led to his second inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2014 and the San Diego Super Lawyers 2013 list. The Best Lawyers (Copyright 2013 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, SC) is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey, and almost 50,000 leading attorneys cast nearly 5 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas. Since lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion is considered a singular honor. Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected to receive this honor.

Carothers received his law degree from the University of Southern California Law Center and his undergraduate degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills. He is a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates, the San Diego County Bar Association and is a committee member and founding participant of the Diversity Fellowship Program. For decades, Carothers has been of service to his community, speaking and mentoring high school, college and legal students considering or pursuing law degrees.
